Gift of the butter tart :)

Yesterday I came home
to my loving man
he had a twinkle in his eye
and a butter tart in his hand

This batch of tarts was provided by Shelia (Shawn's sister).  They were from Port Hope. They were AMAZING!  For me they were a 9 overall.
The best yet!

Still talking to the Universe

Continuing upon my journey ... time to evolve and step into the expanding space before me, filled with bright lights of possibility that bounce all over me, under me and through me. I gather them up.

OPEN ~ ALLOW ~ RECEIVE ~ EMBRACE
my mantra

The idea is to chronicle the first steps of writing my book, and to share the joy and laughter we discover during our search for the perfect healing butter tart.  The doorways  I seek set for me a road to follow, a laid out plan of self discovery, beginning at the beginning. Door number one will be the very first place I lived, going back to my place of origin, standing with stillness - the door within opening to the doors that stretch out before me.
I am 41, and have moved 42 times.

A plan has been hatched to go on a road trip - north bound we travel to Sudbury and Espanola.  Doors one through four will be visited.  Many butter tarts will be tasted, discussed, rated and felt with a warm sense of family and love. Embracing all things good, sweet and healing.
Nourishing hearts and souls.

The butter tart pictured is the first one in the search.  Sherry calling the baker of this delight at home on a holiday Friday, ordering the first batch. They were fresh out of the oven, ooey gooey and sweet.  Ariel and I ate ours with peels of shared laughter, erupting from deep within, bubbling over with happiness as we spent magical moments together.

The doorways and butter tarts tour will commence shortly.

Criteria for butter tart rating ;)

The criteria - to date - how to find that perfect healing butter tart.
Girls ... you know who you are :) feel free to advise, comment and make additions.
  • Overall appeal (how the butter tart looks)
  • Pastry: hard, flaky, thin, thick
  • Inner texture/filling : drippy, firm, crystallized sugar
  • Sugar high/rush - warm fuzzies :)
  • Will also make note of where the tart was made, and the cost for 1/2 dozen.

A butter tart is a type of small pastry tart highly regarded in Canadian cuisine and considered one of Canada's quintessential desserts. Although primarily eaten and associated with the English speaking provinces of Canada, the history of the tart recipe has been traced back to the arrival of the filles à marier in Quebec during the 1600s, where the imported brides used maple syrup, butter and dried fruit to make a possible precursor to modern examples of the butter tart or the Quebec Tarte au sucre. Butter tarts were common in pioneer Canadian cooking, and they remain a characteristic pastry of Canada, considered one of only a few recipes of genuinely Canadian origin.
